Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is widely used in building materials, coatings, synthetic resins, ceramics, medicine, food, textiles, agriculture, cosmetics, tobacco and other industries. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic cellulose ether obtained from natural polymer material cellulose through a series of chemical processing. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is an odorless, tasteless, nontoxic white powder that can be dissolved in cold water to form a transparent viscous solution. It has the properties of thickening, binding, dispersing, emulsifying, film-forming, suspending, adsorbing, gelling, surface-active, retaining moisture and protecting colloids.
The dissolution method of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC):
This product swells and disperses in hot water above 85°C, and is usually dissolved by the following methods:
1. Take 1/3 of the required amount of hot water, stir to completely dissolve the added product, and then add the remaining part of the hot water, which can be cold water or even ice water, and stir to a suitable temperature (20 ℃), then it can be completely dissolve.
2. Dry blending:
In case of mixing with other powders, it should be thoroughly mixed with the powders and then added with water, so that they can be dissolved quickly and will not agglomerate.
3. Organic solvent wetting method:
First disperse the product in an organic solvent or wet it with an organic solvent, and then add it to cold water, it can be well dissolved.
